Winter=Static

Don't be that girl.
Staticy hair in the winter is the absolute worst. My hair just refuses to behave in the colder months. Show your hair who is boss and use these tips to rid your hair of that annoying, clingy feeling!

  • Use a comb on dry hair instead of using a brush. A brush can make it even worse.
  • Keep a few dryer sheets in your purse or in your pockets, and run them through your hair when you feel a static attack coming on.
  • Aerosol hairspray will always do the trick. Have a travel size can handy at all time.

For Rebecca.

Dry hair makes an appearance more often during climate changes, and gets worse when the weather goes from warm to cool. I recommend using an extra-hydrating shampoo three times a week, and using minimal heat. (I know, easier said than done.) Before blow drying your hair, apply a dime sized amount of hand lotion (Yes, hand lotion. Or sun tan lotion works great too) to your hair. Try to avoid the root, because your scalp secretes its own oils that naturally hydrate your hair.  If you're addicted to your flat iron like I am, a heat protectant spray is a MUST x1,000,000,000. My favorite is Ion Flat Iron Protection Spray, and it can be bought at  Sally's Beauty Supply. This product is amazing, I promise. Baby oil can also be used as a straightening serum. Rub a TINY TINY TINY amount of baby oil in the palm of your hands, distribute throughout your hair, and then flat iron in sections. (Again, avoiding your roots). It will make your hair amazingly shiny and healthy looking.

Wow, I've been slacking :(

But I am back on the grind starting tomorrow. One bit of beauty advice before beddie-byes? Try not to sleep on your stomach with your face smushed into your pillow all night. (I am so guilty of this.) This causes the blood to rush for your face, which will make your face look all puffy and swollen in the morning. Sleep easy, followers! :)

Monday's Top 5

My top 5 beauty recommendations for this week are:
(Drum roll, please...)

  1. Bare Minerals Original Foundation
  2. Sally Hansen XTreme Wear nail polish in "Blue Me Away"
  3. Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Leave in Conditioner
  4. Bad Girl Lash mascara (Black) by Benefit
  5. Bare Minerals Eyeshadow in Mermaid.

Refresh Your Lashes

If your mascara starts to look clumpy throughout the day, or your lashes start to look "tired", quickly run your mascara wand under warm water and swipe over your lashes. It will revamp your lashes and make them look happy again, but without getting a spidery look like you are wearing too much mascara.

Fact.

Your foundation brush has 1-2 more face applications left in it after each use. So before you dip back into your foundation to reapply, remember that you don't need to! Also, if you use a foundation primer, your are less likely to have to touch up throughout the day.

Hey you! Step away from the hair ties!

Wearing your hair in a pony tail often can cause so much hair breakage because of your hair tie. It is so easy to just throw your your hair up when your booking it out to the gym, or running errands in the hot summer heat. Switch it up a bit. Try a banana clip. Yes, I said banana clip. (The 80s will never die). They come in all colors, and can be found anywhere like Rite Aid, Walmart, or Sally's Beauty Supply. It will give your hair a nice break from your everyday hair tie torture, plus it's such a hot look. Trust me, your hair will thank you.

My name is Angelina, & I am addicted to teasing.

It must be the Jersey in me. The higher your hair, the closer you are to heaven. (According to one of my favorite shows, Jerseylicious). The damage you do when teasing your hair was never brought to my attention until one day my boyfriend said,"Why are you so mean to your hair?!" He was just being a smart ass, but little did he know that he set a light bulb off in my head. He was RIGHT. I am SO mean to my hair! We tease our hair because we ache to have some  fullness and volume, especially people with super thin hair like me. But how do you get super voluminous hair without murdering it? For starters, I started blowing my hair out the right way, by sectioning it and drying it on a lower heat setting. I also add some root lifting serum (I recommend Aussie Real Volume Root Lifter) to each section individually right before I dry it. Does this take much longer? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. Then I lightly tease a few top sections of my hair with extra hold hairspray. Key words: lightly, and extra hold. Using a higher level hairspray will keep your style in place, so you're not grabbing your teasing comb out of your purse 35 times a day. I use Got2B Glued Freezing Hairspray, and "Glued" is not an understatement. It keeps my hair perfect all day. Since my admittance into Teasing Rehab, my hair has become a lot more healthy looking and feeling.  My hair and I now have a much better relationship.

Keep Your Lips Kissable

I am absolutely obsessed with EOS (Evolution Of Smooth) organic chap sticks. They're fun and inexpensive, the flavors are de-lish, (Sweet Mint, Lemon Drop, Honeysuckle Honeydew, Summer Fruit, Medicated Tangerine, and 2 new flavors, Passion Fruit and Strawberry Sorbet) and  inexpensive, and it is the best chap stick that has ever come in contact with my kisser. I keep one in my gym bag, one in my purse, one in my car, and one next to by bed so I always have it! Try it. Ahhhhmazing. I promise.

Fact,

Yes.

Love her... but NO.
Bronzer should be used to highlight the tan you already have on your face... NOT to make your pale face, neck, chest, etc. look tan.
